As most of my readers know we have been planning and working on my 92-year-old mom moving in with us. We have been renovating, clutter clearing and preparing to begin a new way of living our family life. It is rather interesting how life flows and comes around the Sacred Hoop when we move from childhood to adulthood. I went from living with my parents in my childhood to living with my mom in my adulthood. We have a different kind of relationship now as adults and beginning a new family life together as she joins my husband and I in our daily life.
We have all gone through clutter clearing of physical and non-physical items in our lives. We have purged unused furniture and collections. We have gone through the mental thoughts about our each of our lives will change and evolve. We have talked about our feelings and emotions about these upcoming changes. I have even given tobacco and will do a space clearing once mom is here to set the new template for our lives together.
In our Native American cultural belief, we talk about how we take care of our elders and our young. Well, in real life, that always doesn’t happen in Native families. We are looking forward to having my mom join us knowing that we will have her here with us in her last chapters of her physical life. We get to enjoy the stories as she retells them to us now that we are adults. As children, my brothers and I, weren’t always appreciative of the stories or made time to really “hear” her. Now we have the opportunity to spend this precious time with her.
Come share a discussion about this topic on my internet radio show, Sacred Hoop with Neshi, tonight, Wednesday March 28, at 9 pm EST, on Souls Journey Radio. We will share about clutter clearing, spring cleaning and new family beginnings.
